What to eat in Rome:

Rome is very well known for its culinary traditions and great food culture. Here are our top recommendations for the best meals in town:

Michelin star restaurants:

  • La Pergola: A breathtaking view of the Eternal City is revealed to guests at one of the world’s most beautiful restaurants. Under the guidance of Heinz Beck it has become a temple of international gastronomy, historically the first and, still today, the only three-star Michelin in Rome.
Its one-of-a-kind cuisine is a fusion of genius and creativity; from the absolute quality of simply unique ingredients, it continues to set forth new tastes and new emotions coaxed from the real flavours of Italian and Mediterranean tradition.

  • Enoteca La Torre Villa Laetitia: Awarded with two Michelin Star in 2022 and 3 forks from the prestigious Gambero Rosso, Enoteca la Torre offers one of the most exclusive experiences in the Capital: sophisticated cuisine and great care and consideration for the client in an enchanting, nearly poetic setting.
The continuous pursuit of new ideas combined with the professionalism of a tight-knit team give life to a dynamic restaurant whose passion for fine-dining is palpable.

  • La Terrazza at Hotel the Eden: Luxury and a breathtaking view make La Terrazza of the Eden hotel one of the most spectacular addresses in all of Rome: the soft lights create a persuasive half-light so as not to interfere with the beauty of the Eternal City which is revealed through the huge windows. At the stove, the chef from Campania Fabio Ciervo juggles refined preparations in which technique and research are put at the service of excellent ingredients.

Typical Trattorias:

  • Osteria da Zi Umberto: It is a beautiful cosy trattoria located in the heart of the Trastevere district, in the area of typical taverns and trattorias. As in almost all the places in the area, the service is very familiar and home-made offering typical Roman dishes.

  • È Passata la Moretta: Located in the heart of the VII district “Regola”, the Vicolo della Moretta is the widest of the alleys in Rome.
The activity of this restaurant - pizzeria, located a short distance from the Lungotevere, has been carried out for well over fifty years. The environment is welcoming and reserved.
The furnishings are simple and elegant, characterized by wooden furniture, terracotta floors and characteristic “trompe l’oeil” frescoes on the walls. It is said that a beautiful, dark-haired woman nicknamed the “moretta” stayed here... Probably, if you listen silently, you could still hear the echo of her footsteps entering the restaurant.

  • Taverna Trilussa: Tradition, hospitality and uniqueness: these are the three words that best describe Taverna Trilussa. In the heart of the Trastevere Roman nightlife, but don’t think in the slightest that the cuisine is touristic, there is in fact this small trattoria, which is a staple of Roman catering.

  • Ai Bozzi: Characteristic restaurant located in the heart of Trastevere. Strengthened by a genuine culinary culture in the ingredients and in the way of cooking them, Giovanni Ai Bozzi is a place where the quality of the products is taken into account.

What to do in Rome:

  • Walking Tour: A walking tour is one of the best ways to visit Rome, the historical city rich with culture and unmatchable in its beauty. • Vatican Museums: The Vatican Museums host the most important and largest art collection in the world which include masterpieces of antiquity, from Egypt to Greece to Rome, from early Christian and medieval art to the Renaissance, from the 17th century to contemporary art. The queen of the exhibition route and one of the most fascinating monuments is undoubtedly the Sistine Chapel. Built between 1475 and 1481 AD, the Sistine Chapel was commissioned by Pope Sixtus IV and was built on the walls of the Cappella Magna. The Sistine Chapel is particularly important and appreciated because of the masterpieces it contains.
On the side walls are splendid frescoes by Perugino, Botticelli, Ghirlandaio and Michelangelo Buonarroti, while the vault, frescoed by Michelangelo himself, is considered one of the most important works ever created in the world.
